Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Statesville Greyhounds (Statesville, NC), 8-3 in a league challenge.

The Red Tornadoes now own a 1-12 record. They take the field next when they host East Lincoln for a Western Foothills 3A challenge on Wednesday, April 5. Hickory will battle a Mustangs squad coming off a 4-1 league win over North Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC). The Mustangs record now stands at 9-1.

With the loss, Statesville falls to 0-6 on the campaign. The Greyhounds travel to North Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC) to meet the Knights in a Western Foothills 3A match on Thursday, April 6. The Knights go into the match with a record of 6-7. North Lincoln lost 4-1 in their recent league match against East Lincoln (Denver, NC)
