Anderson County Mavericks (Clinton, TN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Gibbs Eagles (Corryton, TN), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Oak Ridge for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 8.

With the loss, Gibbs falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Eagles host Morristown-Hamblen West (Morristown, TN) to battle the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Morristown-Hamblen West won 9-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Gibbs (Corryton, TN)
