Mayfield Trojans (Las Cruces, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Las Cruces Bulldawgs (Las Cruces, NM), 12-8 in a league challenge.

The Trojans now own a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Centennial for a 5A District 3 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Mayfield will battle a Hawks squad coming off a 14-3 league win over Alamogordo (Alamogordo, NM). The Hawks record now stands at 12-2.

With the loss, Las Cruces falls to 5-9 on the campaign. The Bulldawgs travel to Gadsden (Anthony, NM) to battle the Panthers in a 5A District 3 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 3-11. Gadsden lost 16-3 in their recent league challenge against Organ Mountain (Las Cruces, NM)
