Northwest Rankin Cougars (Brandon, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Petal Panthers (Petal, MS), 6-0 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 19-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to South Panola for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 6. Northwest Rankin will battle a Tigers squad coming off a 15-0 league win over Olive Branch (Olive Branch, MS). The Tigers record now stands at 16-2.

With the loss, Petal falls to 14-6 on the season. The Panthers travel to Brandon (Brandon, MS) to confront the Bulldogs in a 7A Region 3 bout on Tuesday, April 9. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 12-9. Brandon won 13-1 in their recent league bout against Meridian (Meridian, MS)
