The Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC) baseball trounced the host North East Carolina Prep Husky (Tarboro, NC), 17-1 in Friday's league challenge.

The Red Barons now own a 5-8 record. They take the field next when they host Bertie for a Four Rivers 1A challenge on Tuesday, April 8. Gates County will clash with a Falcons team coming off a 14-1 league loss to Martin County (Williamston, NC). The Falcons record now stands at 4-12.

With the defeat, North East Carolina Prep drops to 1-11 on the year. The Husky host Tarboro (Tarboro, NC) to clash with the Vikings in a Four Rivers 1A challenge on Tuesday, April 8. The Vikings go into the challenge with a record of 8-5. Tarboro lost 6-4 in their recent league challenge against Perquimans (Hertford, NC)
