Villa Maria Academy Hurricanes (Malvern, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Merion Mercy Academy Golden Bears (Merion Station, PA), 5-3 in a league challenge.

The Hurricanes now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Mt. St. Joseph Academy for a Catholic Academies challenge on Monday, April 11.

With the loss, Merion Mercy Academy falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Golden bears host Gwynedd Mercy Academy (Gwynedd Valley, PA) to face the Monarchs in a Catholic Academies challenge on Tuesday, April 19. The Monarchs enter the challenge with a record of 1-3.
