Carthage Bulldogs (Carthage, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Center Roughriders (Center, TX), 8-1 in a league challenge.

The Bulldogs now sport a 18-11 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gilmer for a 4A Region III District 17 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Carthage will face a Buckeyes squad coming off a 2-0 league win over Spring Hill (Longview, TX). The Buckeyes record now stands at 15-10.

With the loss, Center falls to 8-18 on the campaign. The Roughriders host Henderson (Henderson, TX) to face the Lions in a 4A Region III District 17 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 18-8. Henderson won 14-3 in their recent league challenge against Kilgore (Kilgore, TX)
