The Independence Patriots softball team scored 16 runs and limited the visiting Copper Canyon Aztecs to 1 in the Patriots league triumph on Friday.

With the triumph, Independence moves its record to 5-6 on the year. The Patriots travel to Youngker (Buckeye, AZ) to clash with the Roughriders in a 5A Central Valley game on Tuesday, April 9. The Roughriders come into the game with a record of 4-9. Youngker lost 8-3 in their recent league game against Independence (Glendale, AZ)

In their next game, the Aztecs clash with the Kofa Kings (Yuma, AZ) in a 5A Central Valley game, on Monday, April 8. Copper Canyon will attempt to move on its 4-6 season record. The Kings come into the game with a 7-7 record after their 20-0 league win over Washington (Phoenix, AZ).
