The crowd at Friday's league match between the Salem Wildcats (Salem, IL) and the host Freeburg Midgets (Freeburg, IL), saw Salem's softball squad nip Freeburg by a count of 3-1.

The Wildcats now sport a 9-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Trico for a non-league match on Saturday, April 6. Salem will face a Pioneers squad coming off a 8-2 non-league win over Mascoutah (Mascoutah, IL). The Pioneers record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, Freeburg falls to 11-2 on the campaign. The Midgets host Breese Central (Breese, IL) to face the Cougars in a Cahokia - Mississippi match on Tuesday, April 9. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 6-4. Breese Central won 16-6 in their recent non-league match against Collinsville (Collinsville, IL)
