The Wingate Bears baseball team (Fort Wingate, NM), was overwhelmed 6-2 in Thursday's league outing with the host Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM)
The Thunderbirds now hold a 5-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Magdalena for a non-league outing on Saturday, April 8. Zuni will confront a Steers team coming off a 15-9 non-league win over Lordsburg (Lordsburg, NM). The Steers record now stands at 2-2.
Next, the Bears confront the Navajo Prep Eagles (Farmington, NM) in a 3A District 1 outing, on Tuesday, April 11. Wingate will attempt to advance on its 1-6 season record. The Eagles go into the outing with a 2-12 record after their 15-3 non-league loss to Laguna Acoma (New Laguna, NM).
