Monterey Plainsmen (Lubbock, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Abilene Eagles (Abilene, TX), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Plainsmen now sport a 24-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Wylie for a 5A Region I District 4 challenge on Tuesday, April 11. Monterey will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 8-7 league win over Cooper (Abilene, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 22-6.

With the loss, Abilene falls to 22-5 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Lubbock (Lubbock, TX) to face the Westerners in a 5A Region I District 4 challenge on Tuesday, April 11. The Westerners enter the challenge with a record of 4-10.
