The Alleghany Mountaineers softball team scored 8 runs and limited the visiting Covington Cougars to 5 in the Mountaineers non-league triumph on Thursday.

With the triumph, Alleghany improves its record to 5-1 on the year. The Mountaineers travel to Floyd County (Floyd, VA) to clash with the Buffaloes in a Three Rivers game on Friday, April 14. The Buffaloes come into the game with a record of 3-5.

In their next game, the Cougars clash with the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (Elliston, VA) in a Pioneer game, on Tuesday, April 11. Covington will attempt to improve on its 4-3 season record. The Mustangs come into the game with a 5-3 record after their 11-8 league loss to Parry McCluer (Buena Vista, VA).
