Meridian Hawks (Macon, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals (Warrensburg, IL), 12-11 in a league challenge.

The Hawks now own a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Tri-City/Sangamon Valley for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 8. Meridian will battle a Storm squad coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Maroa-Forsyth (Maroa, IL). The Storm record now stands at 5-2.

With the loss, Warrensburg-Latham falls to 4-1 on the campaign. The Cardinals travel to New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly (New Berlin, IL) to battle the Vipers in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 7. The Vipers enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly lost 22-0 in their recent league challenge against Olympia (Stanford, IL)
