Winfield Pirates (Winfield, AL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hamilton Aggies (Hamilton, AL), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now sport a 21-3 record. They take the field next when they host Colbert Heights for a 3A Area 12 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Winfield will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 3-2 non-league win over Lindsay Lane Christian Academy (Athens, AL). The Wildcats record now stands at 18-3.

With the loss, Hamilton falls to 26-6 on the campaign. The Aggies travel to Haleyville (Haleyville, AL) to face the Lions in a 4A Area 11 challenge on Monday, April 8. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 9-13. Haleyville lost 16-5 in their recent league challenge against Curry (Jasper, AL)
