The crowd at Thursday's league match between the Richlands Wildcats (Richlands, NC) and the visiting Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC), saw Richlands's softball squad nip Croatan by a count of 12-8.

The Wildcats now sport a 4-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to New Bern for a non-league match on Friday, April 8. Richlands will face a Bears squad coming off a 15-0 non-league loss to Laney (Wilmington, NC). The Bears record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Croatan falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Cougars host Richlands (Richlands, NC) to face the Wildcats in a match on Tuesday, May 3. The Wildcats enter the match with a record of 4-5.
