Houston County Lions (Columbia, AL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Abbeville Yellowjackets (Abbeville, AL), 16-13 in a league challenge.

The Lions now sport a 1-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Cottonwood for a 2A Area 2 challenge on Monday, April 11.

With the loss, Abbeville falls to 0-8 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets host Carroll (Ozark, AL) to face the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 8. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 2-14. Carroll won 17-7 in their recent league challenge against Headland (Headland, AL)
