Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pontotoc Warriors (Pontotoc, MS), 12-11 in a non-league challenge.

The Commodores now own a 6-6 record. They take the field next when they host Cleveland Central for a 5A Region 1 challenge on Monday, April 11. Lafayette will battle a Wolves squad coming off a 12-9 league loss to Lake Cormorant (Lake Cormorant, MS). The Wolves record now stands at 10-9.

With the loss, Pontotoc falls to 16-5 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to South Pontotoc (Pontotoc, MS) to battle the Cougars in a 4A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, April 12. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 8-4. South Pontotoc lost 7-5 in their recent league challenge against Houston (Houston, MS)
