Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Alton Redbirds (Alton, IL), 10-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Piasa Birds now own a 7-4 record. They take the field next when they host Roxana for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 10. Southwestern will battle a Shells squad coming off a 7-4 league win over East Alton-Wood River (Wood River, IL). The Shells record now stands at 4-5.

With the loss, Alton falls to 1-6 on the campaign. The Redbirds host Collinsville (Collinsville, IL) to battle the Kahoks in a Southwestern challenge on Monday, April 10. The Kahoks enter the challenge with a record of 0-9. Collinsville lost 12-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Waterloo (Waterloo, IL)
