Monterey Wildcats (Monterey, TN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Jackson County Blue Devils (Gainesboro, TN), 14-8 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they host York Institute for a 2A District 5 challenge on Monday, April 10. Monterey will battle a Dragons squad coming off a 4-1 league loss to Sequatchie County (Dunlap, TN). The Dragons record now stands at 4-3.

With the loss, Jackson County falls to 1-6 on the campaign. The Blue devils travel to York Institute (Jamestown, TN) to battle the Dragons in a 2A District 5 challenge on Tuesday, April 11. The Dragons enter the challenge with a record of 4-4. York Institute lost 5-3 in their recent league challenge against Monterey (Monterey, TN)
