Steele Canyon Cougars (Spring Valley, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Carlsbad Lancers (Carlsbad, CA), 6-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Valhalla for a Grossmont Hills challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Steele Canyon will battle a Norsemen squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Mater Dei Catholic (Chula Vista, CA). The Norsemen record now stands at 1-13.

With the loss, Carlsbad falls to 8-7 on the campaign. The Lancers host Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA) to battle the Falcons in a Coastal North County challenge on Wednesday, April 10. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 12-2. Torrey Pines won 11-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Mira Mesa (San Diego, CA)
