South Albany Redhawks (Albany, OR) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Central Panthers (Independence, OR), 12-11 in a league challenge.

The Redhawks now own a 2-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to McKay for a 5A Mid-Willamette challenge on Wednesday, April 10. South Albany will battle a Royal Scots squad coming off a 11-1 league loss to Crescent Valley (Corvallis, OR). The Royal Scots record now stands at 1-4.

With the loss, Central falls to 6-4 on the campaign. The Panthers host Silverton (Silverton, OR) to battle the Foxes in a 5A Mid-Willamette challenge on Wednesday, April 10. The Foxes enter the challenge with a record of 8-2. Silverton won 7-6 in their recent league challenge against Lebanon (Lebanon, OR)
