Cocke County Fighting Cocks (Newport, TN) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Grainger Grizzlies (Rutledge, TN), 4-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Fighting Cocks now sport a 8-4 record. They take the field next when they host Northview Academy for a 3A District 3 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Cocke County will face a Cougars squad coming off a 7-3 non-league loss to Cosby (Cosby, TN). The Cougars record now stands at 3-6.

With the loss, Grainger falls to 5-3 on the campaign. The Grizzlies host Greeneville (Greeneville, TN) to face the Greene Devils in a 3A District 2 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Greene Devils enter the challenge with a record of 11-7. Greeneville won 3-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Rockcastle County (Mt. Vernon, KY)
