The Downey Vikings triumphed over the host Mayfair Monsoons softball squad by a count of 9-4 in Tuesday's league challenge.

Next, the Vikings meet the La Mirada Matadores (La Mirada, CA) in a Gateway challenge, on Thursday, April 10. Downey will attempt to upgrade on its 13-4 season record. The Matadores enter the challenge with a 15-3 record after their 3-1 league win over Mayfair (Lakewood, CA).

The Monsoons (9-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Paramount (Paramount, CA). The Pirates enter the non-league challenge with a 8-9 record. In their last challenge, Paramount was routed by Gahr (Cerritos, CA), 11-1, in a non-league challenge.
