Fruitdale Pirates (Fruitdale, AL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Clarke County Bulldogs (Grove Hill, AL), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 13-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Leroy for a 1A Area 1 challenge on Thursday, April 11. Fruitdale will face a Bears squad coming off a 15-0 non-league win over Citronelle (Citronelle, AL). The Bears record now stands at 15-12.

With the loss, Clarke County falls to 8-14 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Washington County (Chatom, AL) to face the Bulldogs in a 2A Area 1 challenge on Thursday, April 11. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 10-8. Washington County lost 10-4 in their recent league challenge against Blacksher (Uriah, AL)
