Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs (Melrose, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Eleva-Strum Cardinals (Strum, WI), 9-2 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Augusta for a Dairyland challenge on Thursday, April 11. Melrose-Mindoro will face a Beavers squad coming off a 12-0 non-league loss to McDonell Central (Chippewa Falls, WI). The Beavers record now stands at 0-2.

With the loss, Eleva-Strum falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Cardinals host Whitehall (Whitehall, WI) to face the Norse in a Dairyland challenge on Friday, April 12. The Norse enter the challenge with a record of 2-3. Whitehall lost 13-4 in their recent league challenge against Blair-Taylor (Blair, WI)
