Pope County Pirates (Golconda, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats (Galatia, IL), 6-4 in a league challenge.
The Pirates now sport a 6-12 record. They take the field next when they host Hardin County for a Greater Egyptian challenge on Thursday, April 11. Pope County will face a Cougars squad coming off a 10-0 league loss to Crab Orchard (Marion, IL). The Cougars record now stands at 3-5.
With the loss, Galatia/Thompsonville falls to 2-8 on the campaign. The Bearcats host Crab Orchard (Marion, IL) to face the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 18. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 10-3.
