Cheney RVT Beavers (Manchester, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Vinal RVT Hawks (Middletown, CT), 16-9 in a league challenge.

The Beavers now own a 2-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Wilcox RVT for a Connecticut Tech challenge on Wednesday, May 3. Cheney RVT will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 10-3 league loss to O'Brien RVT (Ansonia, CT). The Wildcats record now stands at 8-4.

With the loss, Vinal RVT falls to 1-9 on the campaign. The Hawks host Kaynor Tech (Waterbury, CT) to battle the Panthers in a Connecticut Tech challenge on Friday, May 5. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 6-3. Kaynor Tech won 18-5 in their recent league challenge against Bullard-Havens (Bridgeport, CT)
