Weir Red Riders (Weirton, WV) fans left the game pleased Thursday as they observed their baseball squad nip the host Oak Glen Golden Bears (New Cumberland, WV), 6-5 in a league match.
With the triumph, Weir advances its record to 9-14 on the season. The Red Riders host Buckeye Local (Rayland, OH) to battle the Panthers in a non-league match on Friday, May 2. The Panthers come into the match with a record of 5-12. Buckeye Local lost 6-3 in their recent league match against Martins Ferry (Martins Ferry, OH)
The Golden Bears now have a 9-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to East Liverpool for a Ohio Valley Athletic AAAA match on Friday, May 2. Oak Glen will battle a Potters squad coming off a 12-7 non-league loss to East Palestine (East Palestine, OH). The Potters record now stands at 1-17.
