Fans at Thursday's league battle between the William Byrd Terriers (Vinton, VA) and the host Franklin County Eagles (Rocky Mount, VA), saw William Byrd's soccer squad hold off Franklin County by a count of 2-1.

The Terriers (7-3) will now prepare for their battle against Fleming (Roanoke, VA). The Colonels enter the Blue Ridge battle with a 5-5 record. In their last battle, Fleming was edged by Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA), 8-1, in a non-league battle.

Next up, the Eagles confront the Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA) in a Blue Ridge battle, on Tuesday, May 6. Franklin County will attempt to upgrade on its 1-8 season record. The Golden Eagles enter the battle with a 0-11 record after their 6-2 league loss to Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA).
