Wheeler Lions (North Stonington, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting New London Whalers (New London, CT), 14-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 6-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Putnam for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 12. Wheeler will battle a Clippers squad coming off a 15-0 non-league loss to St. Bernard (Uncasville, CT). The Clippers record now stands at 5-8.

With the loss, New London falls to 0-12 on the campaign. The Whalers host Tourtellotte (North Grosvenordale, CT) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 12. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 1-12. Tourtellotte won 14-9 in their recent non-league challenge against Harvard Ellis Tech (Killingly, CT)
