Marlborough Panthers (Marlborough, MA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Fitchburg Red Raiders (Fitchburg, MA), 8-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 6-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Middlesex Regional for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 11.

With the loss, Fitchburg falls to 8-6 on the campaign. The Red raiders host Algonquin Regional (Northborough, MA) to face the Titans in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 12. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 0-10. Algonquin Regional lost 22-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Nashoba Regional (Bolton, MA)
