Skowhegan River Hawks (Skowhegan, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hampden Broncos (Hampden, ME), 6-2 in a league challenge.

The River Hawks now own a 9-0 record. They take the field next when they host Brewer for a Class A North match on Saturday, May 13. Skowhegan will face a Witches squad coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to Ellsworth (Ellsworth, ME). The Witches record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, Hampden moves to 4-4 on the season. The Broncos host Lewiston (Lewiston, ME) to face the Blue Devils in a Class A North match on Friday, May 12. The Blue Devils go into the match with a record of 1-7. Lewiston lost 31-0 in their recent league match against Oxford Hills (South Paris, ME)
