Springfield Senators (Springfield, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Rochester Rockets (Rochester, IL), 16-1 in a league challenge.

The Senators now own a 22-3 record. They take the field next when they host Quincy for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 13. Springfield will battle a Blue Devils squad coming off a 6-5 non-league win over Sacred Heart-Griffin (Springfield, IL). The Blue Devils record now stands at 11-18.

With the loss, Rochester falls to 14-13 on the campaign. The Rockets travel to Hillsboro (Hillsboro, IL) to battle the Hiltoppers in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 12. The Hiltoppers enter the challenge with a record of 8-15. Hillsboro won 12-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Marquette Catholic (Alton, IL)
