Spectators at Friday's league match between the Glenvar Highlanders (Salem, VA) and the visiting Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA), witnessed Glenvar's softball squad tip Alleghany by a count of 8-7.

The Highlanders now sport a 10-8 record. They play next when they host James River for a Three Rivers match on Monday, May 13. Glenvar will meet a Knights squad coming off a 10-9 league loss to Patrick County (Stuart, VA). The Knights record now stands at 6-10.

With the loss, Alleghany moves to 13-6 on the season. The Cougars travel to Floyd County (Floyd, VA) to meet the Buffaloes in a Three Rivers match on Monday, May 13. The Buffaloes go into the match with a record of 9-9. Floyd County lost 5-2 in their recent league match against Radford (Radford, VA)
