Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the host South Shore Cardinals (Port Wing, WI), 22-4 in a league challenge.

The Granite Diggers now own a 7-2 record. They take the field next when they host Prentice for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 11. Mellen will battle a Buccaneers squad coming off a 17-0 non-league loss to Newman (Wausau, WI). The Buccaneers record now stands at 0-15.

With the loss, South Shore falls to 0-6 on the campaign. The Cardinals host Washburn (Washburn, WI) to battle the Castle Guards in a Northern Lights challenge on Monday, May 13. The Castle Guards enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
