The crowd at Friday's league match between the Peru Nighthawks (Peru, NY) and the host Saranac Spartans (Saranac, NY), saw Peru's softball squad nip Saranac by a count of 6-1.

The Nighthawks now sport a 8-4 record. They take the field next when they host Beekmantown for a Section 7 Champlain Valley I match on Monday, May 13. Peru will face a Eagles squad coming off a 9-6 non-league win over Chazy (Chazy, NY). The Eagles record now stands at 6-8.

With the loss, Saranac falls to 8-4 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Penn Yan Academy (Penn Yan, NY) to face the Mustangs in a non-league match on Saturday, May 11. The Mustangs enter the match with a record of 12-4. Penn Yan Academy won 12-4 in their recent league match against Waterloo (Waterloo, NY)
