The Eastland Cougars overwhelmed the visiting Amboy Clippers softball squad by a count of 16-6 in Saturday's league challenge.

Next, the Cougars meet the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats (Hanover, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, May 12. Eastland will attempt to upgrade on its 9-11 season record. The Wildcats go into the challenge with a 12-14 record after their 3-1 non-league win over Benton/Shullsburg (Benton, WI).

The Clippers (4-15) will now prepare for their challenge against Newman Central Catholic (Sterling, IL). The Comets go into the non-league challenge with a 8-14 record. In their last challenge, Newman Central Catholic toppled Monmouth-Roseville (Monmouth, IL), 6-4, in a non-league challenge.
