In Saturday's non-league match, the visiting Waltonville Spartans softball team scored a tight 9-3 victory over the Benton Rangers.

The Spartans (21-6) will now prepare for their match against Wayne City (Wayne City, IL). The Indians go into the Mid-South match with a 4-8 record. In their last match, Wayne City was routed by Waltonville (Waltonville, IL), 10-0, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Rangers battle the Woodlawn Cardinals (Woodlawn, IL) in a non-league match, on Monday, May 12. Benton will attempt to better on its 13-12 season record. The Cardinals go into the match with a 8-12 record after their 15-5 non-league loss to Waltonville (Waltonville, IL).
