Liberty Minutemen (Bedford, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA), 1-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Minutemen now own a 6-9 record. They take the field next when they host Amherst County for a Seminole challenge on Wednesday, May 11.

With the loss, Staunton River falls to 18-1 on the campaign. The Golden eagles travel to Northside (Roanoke, VA) to battle the Vikings in a Blue Ridge challenge on Monday, May 16. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 12-7. Northside lost 5-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Blacksburg (Blacksburg, VA)
