Spooner Rails (Spooner, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting St. Croix Falls Saints (St. Croix Falls, WI), 8-2 in a league challenge.

The Rails now own a 5-7 record. They take the field next when they host Cumberland for a Heart O' North challenge on Tuesday, May 16. Spooner will battle a Beavers squad coming off a 14-4 non-league win over Ashland (Ashland, WI). The Beavers record now stands at 6-8.

With the loss, St. Croix Falls falls to 12-5 on the campaign. The Saints travel to Ashland (Ashland, WI) to battle the Oredockers in a Lake Superior challenge on Friday, May 12. The Oredockers enter the challenge with a record of 1-7. Ashland lost 14-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Cumberland (Cumberland, WI)
