Avon Falcons (Avon, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Conard Chieftains (West Hartford, CT), 4-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Falcons now own a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they host Canton for a North Central Connecticut challenge on Friday, May 13. Avon will battle a Warriors squad coming off a 2-1 league win over Stafford (Stafford Springs, CT). The Warriors record now stands at 10-5.

With the loss, Conard falls to 7-10 on the campaign. The Chieftains host New Britain (New Britain, CT) to battle the Golden Hurricanes in a Central Connecticut - West challenge on Monday, May 16. The Golden Hurricanes enter the challenge with a record of 3-10. New Britain won 17-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Hartford Public (Hartford, CT)
