Hammond Central Red Devils (Hammond, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Edwards-Knox Cougars (Russell, NY), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Red Devils now own a 6-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Morristown Central for a Section 10 West challenge on Friday, May 13. Hammond Central will battle a Rockets squad coming off a 9-1 league loss to Heuvelton Central (Heuvelton, NY). The Rockets record now stands at 3-5.

With the loss, Edwards-Knox falls to 7-2 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Canton (Canton, NY) to battle the Golden Bears in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 13. The Golden Bears enter the challenge with a record of 5-0. Canton won 7-5 in their recent league challenge against St. Lawrence Central (Brasher Falls, NY)
