The crowd at Friday's league match between the Chatham Cavaliers (Chatham, VA) and the visiting Altavista Colonels (Altavista, VA), saw Chatham's softball squad nip Altavista by a count of 5-1.

The Cavaliers now sport a 10-5 record. They take the field next when they host Nelson County for a Dogwood match on Tuesday, May 16. Chatham will face a Governors squad coming off a 6-0 league win over Gretna (Gretna, VA). The Governors record now stands at 10-7.

With the loss, Altavista falls to 2-13 on the campaign. The Colonels host Dan River (Ringgold, VA) to face the Wildcats in a Dogwood match on Wednesday, May 17. The Wildcats enter the match with a record of 6-11.
