Broadway Gobblers (Broadway, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Rockbridge County Wildcats (Lexington, VA), 8-4 in a league challenge.

The Gobblers now own a 16-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Spotswood for a Valley challenge on Saturday, May 13. Broadway will battle a Trailblazers squad coming off a 6-1 league loss to Turner Ashby (Bridgewater, VA). The Trailblazers record now stands at 10-7.

With the loss, Rockbridge County falls to 5-14 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Harrisonburg (Harrisonburg, VA) to battle the Blue Streaks in a Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 16. The Blue Streaks enter the challenge with a record of 4-13. Harrisonburg lost 2-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Monticello (Charlottesville, VA)
