New Athens Yellow Jackets (New Athens, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Steeleville Warriors (Steeleville, IL), 3-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Yellow Jackets now sport a 8-18 record. They take the field next when they travel to Valmeyer for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 15. New Athens will face a Pirates squad coming off a 3-2 non-league loss to Trico (Campbell Hill, IL). The Pirates record now stands at 12-6.

With the loss, Steeleville falls to 2-18 on the campaign.
