La Crosse Central Riverhawks (La Crosse, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Sparta Spartans (Sparta, WI), 8-1 in a league challenge.

The Riverhawks now own a 9-8 record. They take the field next when they host Onalaska for a Mississippi Valley challenge on Thursday, May 16. La Crosse Central will battle a Hilltoppers squad coming off a 11-1 league loss to Holmen (Holmen, WI). The Hilltoppers record now stands at 7-11.

With the loss, Sparta falls to 2-14 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Sauk Prairie (Prairie du Sac, WI) to battle the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 16. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 3-16. Sauk Prairie lost 9-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Dodgeville (Dodgeville, WI)
