Mesabi East Giants (Aurora, MN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers (Mountain Iron, MN), 5-3 in a league challenge.

The Giants now own a 7-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hibbing for a Freelance challenge on Friday, May 17.

With the loss, Mountain Iron-Buhl falls to 8-9 on the campaign. The Rangers travel to Chisholm (Chisholm, MN) to battle the Bluestreaks in a Freelance challenge on Wednesday, May 15. The Bluestreaks enter the challenge with a record of 4-11. Chisholm lost 17-7 in their recent league challenge against North Woods (Cook, MN)
