The Belvidere Bucs edged the host Rockford Auburn Knights softball squad by a count of 9-8 in Wednesday's league challenge.

Next, the Bucs play the Jefferson J-Hawks (Rockford, IL) in a Northern Illinois NIC-9 challenge, on Friday, May 16. Belvidere will attempt to upgrade on its 13-8 season record. The J-Hawks enter the challenge with a 9-12 record after their 10-5 league win over Rockford Auburn (Rockford, IL).

The Knights (13-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Freeport (Freeport, IL). The Pretzels enter the Northern Illinois NIC-9 challenge with a 6-20 record. In their last challenge, Freeport was nudged by Belvidere North (Belvidere, IL), 13-0, in a league challenge.
