Sauquoit Valley Indians (Sauquoit, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Mt. Markham Mustangs (West Winfield, NY), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Indians now own a 4-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Cooperstown for a Section 3 Center State II challenge on Wednesday, May 17. Sauquoit Valley will battle a Hawkeyes squad coming off a 6-4 non-league win over Chenango Forks (Binghamton, NY). The Hawkeyes record now stands at 12-2.

With the loss, Mt. Markham falls to 5-5 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Westmoreland (Westmoreland, NY) to battle the Bulldogs in a Section 3 Center State II challenge on Tuesday, May 16. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 10-4. Westmoreland lost 5-2 in their recent league challenge against Oriskany (Oriskany, NY)
