Chatham Cavaliers (Chatham, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA), 3-2 in a league challenge.

The Cavaliers now own a 10-9 record. They take the field next when they host Altavista for a Dogwood challenge on Friday, May 17. Chatham will battle a Colonels squad coming off a 3-2 league win over Nelson County (Lovingston, VA). The Colonels record now stands at 8-10.

With the loss, Gretna falls to 4-13 on the campaign. The Hawks host William Campbell (Naruna, VA) to battle the Generals in a Dogwood challenge on Friday, May 17. The Generals enter the challenge with a record of 9-10. William Campbell lost 3-2 in their recent league challenge against Dan River (Ringgold, VA)
